Unitan

Unitan was built in Paull, near Hull, on the River Humber in 1950, by J.R.Hepworth Ltd.

She is a Sheffield sized Humber Keel motor vessel of clenched steel construction and has a Lister JP4 40 BHP engine with four number 4 1/2” cylinders. She has a registered tonnage of 56.70
The Original Owner was Richard Hodgson and Sons Ltd, a tannery business from 1812 – 1975 located at Beverley on the River Hull. Unitan was used to transport hides to the tannery. In 1972 she was sold to canal carrier James Holt of Thorne. In the early 1980’s she was found on the River Lea,
rescued and has been transformed into a live aboard.

Unitan has been moored here since 1985.
